Santa Monica’s God Of War sequel/reboot surprised just about everyone when it released. Instead of a linear hack and slash title, this new entry offers a huge amount of exploration and RPG elements. The simple to learn, yet difficult to master, combat has so much depth that’s not initially revealed on the surface.

One aspect that players loved about the game was its variety of builds and customization. Kratos is now able to equip specific armor pieces, each with their own stats and bonus perks. Some of these sets can be quite the challenge to obtain, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Here are the 10 best armor sets that will make you a god (pun intended) in the game.

It’s not just Kratos that can awesome armor in the game, you’ll also want to find the various legendary armor available for Atreus to keep him safe and protected.

This version of the Sharpshooter Garb is pretty much the same as the one that comes before it except that it cuts down significantly on the recharge time, which is helpful since you’ll be able to reload faster and shoot off more arrows. It also allows you to do more damage in the long run. It’ll be very helpful to you when Atreus can move fast and shoot even faster.

12 True Warrior Set

The True Warrior Set is one of the best armors in the game and it looks fantastic on Kratos. It is one of those armors that seems to personify all of his most fierce attributes. It has three different components, each one made out of dwarven-forged metal and embedded with ogre teeth.

You’ll need to collect the pauldron, gauntlets, and the waist guard. Altogether, you’ll get four enchantment sockets. You can also upgrade the armor twice. It has a defense stat of over 100 and it is ranked Legendary.

Defeat Hildr for the cuirass, Gondul for the gauntlets, and Olrun for the waist guard. If you’re hoping to upgrade the set you’ll need to collect Perfect Asgardian Stee and Asgardian Steel.

10 Protection Armor Set

Compared to the rest on this list, the Armor Set of Protection is pretty standard. That being said, it’s a great mid-game Legendary set that you can easily craft with Solid Svartalfheim Steel. This material is found throughout the world, but it will eventually be available for purchase with Hacksilver. It is not the most unique of the armor sets, but it will surely do its best to protect you from the many dangers Midgard has to offer. It also does not hurt that it just looks really cool.

Ancient Armor Set

The Ancient Armor Set is a great early game set that you have to acquire as soon as you could. In order to craft it, you need to kill Ancients to attain Ancient Hearts and Ancient Rubble. Killing those creatures is not too difficult of a project, so farming for these materials ought to be painless. Each armor piece from this set consists of the Elemental Shielding perk, which will increase all elemental resistance by way of 15%. Wearing every piece will permit you to stack it as much as forty five%. Similar to the Protection set, it will likely be useful early on even as you farm for other substances that the higher sets require.

Broks Royal Dwarven Armor Set

Once you’ve completed the “Hail to the King” side mission from Sindri and Brok, you’ll then have access to craft two sets of legendary armor. One of these is Brok’s Royal Dwarven Armor Set. You will need to obtain pristine ores, pristine dust, and pristine scales to craft both of them. The bonus perk from each piece armor in this set contains Raging Fury. This perk increases the Rage gained by 10%, with each piece stacking up to 30%. Rage is a great offensive tool for its high power, but it can also be a life-saver since activating it lets you become almost invincible for a few seconds.

Sindri’s Royal Dwarven Set

The second set you may get after the “Hail to the King” side project is Sindri’s Royal Dwarven Set. Sindri’s set is a good blend of offense and defense. While they all have a high defense score, each armor piece gives a distinctive perk. Arcane Protective Barrier from the breastplate will deliver Kratos a hazard to get a few safety while the usage of runic assaults. The gauntlets offer Fire Mastery, which will growth all burn damage via 15%, that could stack as much as 50%. Frost Mastery from the waist belt is basically similar to Fire Mastery, but with frost harm of path.

Traveler Armor Set

The Traveler Armor Set will require you to defeat the various Travelers throughout the map. Chances are, you came across one of them very early in the game by opening one of those blue portals out of curiosity. Just like everyone else, you were killed instantly right after. Still, you’ll want to make note of these portals if you want to obtain Traveler’s Armor Shards and Grisly Trophies needed to craft the set. Each armor piece will increase Kratos’s vitality, but you’ll definitely want this for the Breastplate. This piece contains the Protection of Traveler perk, which gives you a protective barrier that will absorb a single attack. This barrier will slowly regenerate so you can use it on a consistent.

Smoldering Brimstone Armor Set.

Once you unlock the fiery Muspelheim area, you’ll want to start fighting immediately. Taking down the various hordes of enemies will let you obtain the materials required for several Epic armor sets. The first of these sets is the Smoldering Brimstone Set. What makes this set great is that each piece contains the Aura of Fire perk. Activating Aura of Fire increases strength and restores some health after damage has been taken. Wearing all three pieces of armor will increase the chance of Aura of Fire, so it’s best to equip the full armor set.

Fallen Ash Armor Set

Right of the bat, you’ll want to craft this Epic armor set strictly because of how badass Kratos will look. You’ll need the same materials that are needed for the Smoldering set, which include Smoldering Embers, Crests of Flame, Crests of Surtr, and Pristine Ores. Style aside, this armor set can turn Kratos into a walking inferno, igniting enemies around you. The Retaliation of Fire perk from this set gives Kratos the chance to burn nearby enemies when damage is taken. The chance of this happening will increase with each piece worn.

Ivaldi’s Armor Set of Deadly Mist

Ivaldi’s Armor Set of Deadly Mist is definitely the best armor set in the original base game. Since it requires you to obtain Mist Echoes from Niflheim, frustration may kick in. That being said, there’s a reason the game saves the best for last. The Deadly Mist armor pieces all contain the Regenerating Essence perk, which adds a small amount of health regeneration. You’ll want to wear each piece since this perk can stack up to 5 times. In addition to Mist Echoes, you’ll also need Niflheim Alloy and Ivaldi’s Rusted Armor to craft it. Get to farming!

Ares Armor Set

All of the armor sets in New Game Plus are essentially just upgraded versions of the sets from the base game. However, there were two Perfect sets added that can only be obtained in New Game Plus. One of these is the Ares Armor Set. It will only available to craft once you defeat Hraezlyr. You’ll need both Skap Slag and Hacksilver. If you wanted to do a strictly Rage build, then this set is for you. The Rage Fiend perk massively increases Rage that’s gained. The kicker is that the Rage bar will decrease and will drain faster after being activated.

Zeus Armor Set

The Zeus Armor Set is, without a doubt, the best armor set in the entire game. It’s also the most dangerous and hardest to obtain since you’ll need to defeat all of the Valkyries in New Game Plus. What makes it such a dangerous set is the Glass Ballista perk (see what they did there). This amazing perk massively increases Kratos’s attacks, while simultaneously increasing the damage he takes. The damage boost given is absolutely incredible, which makes up for the high risk you’ll have playing. It’s only a shame that you’ll most likely get this set after you’ve done almost everything else the game has to offer.
